Drew Riley is an award winning visual artist and storyteller who is excited to help OUTsider Festival continue to be a wonderful source for queer art, conversation, and celebration. Riley is best known as the artist and Executive Director of Gender Portraits, a nonprofit project of the Austin Creative Alliance that shares the lived experiences of trans, intersex, and gender nonconforming people through written stories paired with painted portraits. The project also creates events that celebrate trans and intersex communities and artists, including the Gender Unbound Art Fest. Under Riley's direction, the Gender Unbound Art Fest has created opportunities for over thirty transgender and intersex artists, musicians, and performers and partnered with community organizations to provide information and services to hundreds of attendees. Her work in these projects has won her "Best Artivist" in 2017 by the Austin Chronicle and the Houston Transgender Unity Committee's 2017 "Media Arts & Entertainment Award." Outside of her work in LGBTQ+ communities, Riley paints, enjoys a cozy home life with her girlfriend and pets, and nurtures her addictions to coffee and spicy food.
