Jeepneys and White Boy Scream
Wednesday (2/15), 7:00pm, The VORTEX (2307 Manor Rd.)
BODY SHIP is an experimental sci-fi opera that explores the physical and spiritual weight of colonialism through multiple dimensions of time and space. BODY SHIP is created by musician & performance artist Jeepneys in collaboration with composer/performer White Boy Scream (Micaela Tobin) and video artist Miko Revereza. In it, two sisters (played by Jeepneys and White Boy Scream) study Ferdinand Magellen’s route to the Philippines. As a healing rite, they turn their bodies into spaceships and travel along Magellen’s route reconfigured onto the cosmos. As they travel through multiple fractured worlds, they create rituals to decorrupt the spirit, sing songs to reinhabit the body, and do exercises to unconquer the mind. Together, they create re-indigenized worlds and the bridges between them, finding healing in multiplicity and connection. *Co-Sponsored by the Center for Asian American Studies*
Preceded by festival invocation by Adrienne Anemone: Witchy Woo in the Woods!

Between composer, Lyman Hardy III (Corn Wizard Venti), and visualist, Stephen Hal Fishman (Microcorn Eagle Vision), floats a dying star, pulsing inexplicable sci-fi narratives, ricocheting off bulbous, elastic beats. Choreographer, Lindsey Taylor (Unicorn Pink), kicks the audiovisual sausage-fest to the future with her futuristic kicks.
