When and where is the festival?
The next OUTsider festival will take place from February 15-19, 2017 in Austin, TX. The full schedule will be released at the end of Fall 2016.
How do I submit my work for consideration?
Please visit our submissions page. This year's deadline for submissions is September 15, 2016.
What are the different ways to attend the festival?
General Festival & Conference Badges: Access to all festival performances, screenings, exhibitions, panels and events. Seating is not guaranteed as it is limited. Badge holders are encouraged to arrive thirty minutes to one hour prior to the start of a performance to guarantee seating. You will be notified when seating begins 20 minutes before a show.
Individual Tickets Individual tickets are issued 10 minutes before the start of a show after Badge Holders have been seated. Ticket availability is not guaranteed. We encourage guests to arrive one hour prior to the start of a show. An OUTsider volunteer will assist you in the rush ticket line with information about the availability of attending an individual show.
Where do I pick up my badge?
Badge Pickup: You will need a photo ID to pick up your Festival & Conference Badge. Student Badges will not be issued without a valid Student ID.
Pick-uptimes are as follows, all at the VORTEX (2307 Manor Rd.):
- Sunday, February 12, 5pm - 9pm.
- Wednesday, February 15, 5pm - 9pm.
- Thursday, February 16, 6pm - 10pm.
- Friday, February 17, 6pm - 10pm.
- Saturday, February 18, 3pm - 10pm.
- Sunday, February 19, 1pm - 5pm.
Are badges transferrable?
Unfortunately no. Each badge is assigned to one person attending the festival.
Where can I purchase individual tickets?

What are my chances to get in by rush ticket?
While there is no guarantee, the earlier you arrive and join the Rush Line, the better your chances.
Is anything sold out?
There are no pre-show sales. Seating of all individual performances, screenings, shows and panels will be issued one hour prior to the start. There is no guarantee for getting a seat in a show. Badge Holders have priority access, followed by ticket buyers.
Where can I buy badges?
Badges can be purchased via the "Badge" link on this website. Prices increase incrementally, so get your badge early!
How much do individual tickets cost?
Most performances are $10 a ticket, but prices vary. Please check each performance for the price.
When will the full program be announced?
The full program will be announced at the end of Fall 2016.
Where will OUTsider’s performances, screenings, panels and parties take place?
The VORTEX in Austin, TX is home to most of OUTsider’s performances, screenings and exhibitions. Other venues will be announced at a later date.
