Description:

OUTsider Dancers is a movement class for one and all! Professional cymbal monkey Lindsey Taylor (Little Stolen Moments, Total Unicorn) will lead the class in an exploration of body and soul. Student generated inspirations from the fantastic to the mundane will serve as source material for this cathartic physical outpouring. No dance experience? No problem! The class is specifically designed to unleash the funk buried deep within. Every meat vessel has a story to tell, and this is a safe, supportive space to share yours. Ongoing participation is strongly encouraged for a possible performance opportunity.

Class #1: Performing Video Art
Instructor: Bug Davidson
Location: At the Ground Floor Theater: http://www.groundfloortheatre.org/

Class Dates: September 2015 Tuesday Evenings

Sept. 15th, 22nd, 29th, and Oct. 6th

Starting at 6:30p and ending at 7:45p

Our first class is Performing Video Art, an overview at the intersection of performance and video art, from the invention of video technology to the present day.

These weekly gatherings will combine a guided lecture with viewing of video pieces to begin a conversation about the history of performance for video within contemporary art. Digital resources will be provided to compliment these conversations in the form of online texts and streaming video.

Students will have the opportunity to produce self authored or collaborative creative work as an outcome of these conversations. These works will be presented at the OUTsider Festival in February.

Class members are be asked to prioritize attendance at each class.
